Step 2 - - Summarizing Your Early Ideas
Bring together all the school counseling ideas you have written. Open your favorite word processing program. Try to summarize all your ideas into one or two pages of text. Some folks believe that lots of words are important. In this exercise, lots of words get in the way. We want you to summarize your thoughts clearly and concisely. (By the way, please do not discard any of the draft ideas you wrote on scatch pads or in your journal. You may want to refer to them later.)
Remember to continue to exercise your imagination as you summarize your programmatic ideas. Your inventive thoughts may contribute exciting new ways of helping students.
After you have completed your summary in one or two pages, print it. Read it. Let it sit for a day or two and read it again. Revise it if you like.
When you are reasonably (not perfectly) satisfied with the summary of your ideas, move to step 3.
